Tee Morris gave me some advice on podcasting gear today, so I should be ordering my mic and headphones in the next few days. Thanks again, Tee for taking the time to talk to me.
Plug: Don’t forget to check out Tee Morris. He’s an incredible podcaster and an all around great guy. His two podcast audiobooks, MOREVI and Billibub Baddings, which can also be found at Podiobooks, are not only amazing works, but beautifully produced. I’ve been working on cleaning up some short stories I haven’t seen in years. I’m going to use them to figure out what I’m doing and how I want to do it. I know things aren’t going to start off sounding wonderful, so I’m saving my first book.
My daughter really wants me to finish the YA fantasy I started years ago and podcast it first. Although it isn’t my normal genre, I just might have to do that. I think it would be a fun project to start with before getting to the darker stuff.

Hey there!
Just wanted to say thanks for the plug. We didn’t get much of an opportunity to talk headphones, but I know Expert Podcasting Practices for Dummies has a section on them and gives a few recommendations.
As far as YA fantasy and going dark, why not do both? It works for Holly Black. ;^) But when you (and your daughter) have questions on podcasting with Podiobooks, feel free to ping me!

I still need to pick up Expert, but I have the first one! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll have to pick up my copy next time I’m at Borders. It’s been sitting at Borders waiting on me to become acquainted enough to need expert.
Actually, the YA started to go dark by itself thanks to one of the characters that wormed his way into the story (Sara’s favorite character of course). The story started as a Christmas present for Sara and has changed somewhat as she’s aged. I’m going to have to do a lot of editing/changing the beginning to match what the story has become in the end.
